Thank you for your interest in the Martin Way Corridor Study. Over the past few months, the project team has used the feedback we received last year to develop and evaluate different alternatives for Martin Way that address key transportation and land use needs. Now we want your input to help determine which ideas should move forward.
Online Open House – through May 31
Now through the end of May, take a few minutes to explore our online open house, which walks through the land use and transportation alternatives we’ve evaluated to see what policies and projects will support inclusive growth, make it safer and easier to travel by different modes, and build the corridor’s appeal. The open house includes a community survey so you can give voice to your thoughts on how Intercity Transit, Thurston County, and the cities of Lacey and Olympia should proceed with planning for Martin Way’s future.
Virtual Public Meeting – May 12
On May 12th, join us for a public meeting from 5:30 to 7 pm. This will be an online event via Zoom, and participants must register in advance to attend. There will be a brief overview presentation followed by two group discussions – one centered on potential changes in Olympia and the other on Lacey and its urban growth area. There will be opportunities throughout for the public to ask questions and participate. The event will be recorded and posted to the project website for those unable to attend.
Current Conditions Report
In case you missed it, the final current conditions report was released in October 2021. It provides a history of Martin Way and describes the existing land use, traffic patterns, and safety issues. You can learn more about what we’ve discovered on the project website.
What’s Next?
- Opportunities/Alternatives Analysis. After the public meeting, the project team will use what we hear from the public to complete the opportunities and alternatives analysis and identify preferred options for Martin Way.
- Implementation and Action Plan. Information gathered through the online open house and virtual public meeting will inform an action plan later this year to guide future work on the Martin Way Corridor.
This update is going out to everyone who signed up for project notifications through our website, provided their email address through some other means related to this project, and those who participated in a focus group or other project meeting. We’ll be using this method to send out updates about project milestones and events. As always, we welcome your feedback!
