[ARCHIVED] August 2021 Project Update: Martin Way Corridor Visual Preference Survey Results Are In!

Visual Preference Survey Results
We’ve updated both the online Open House and the project website with the results of the visual preference survey. We asked you about your thoughts on streetscape elements (sidewalks, bike lanes, landscaping, etc.) and building types. 895 people responded.

Market Study
Leland Consulting Group was hired to provide us a market study of the Martin Way Corridor. In short, the market study helps us understand how real-world conditions influence what types of development are realistic for Martin Way. The market study is available on the project website.

June 23rd Public Meeting
We intended to include a recording of the meeting to post online. Due to technical difficulties, the recording isn’t available. Fortunately, we do have the presentation, so we’ve posted it on the project website. If you have questions about it, please let us know.

What’s Next?
We’re working on a number of pieces to inform the next steps for this project:

  • Current Conditions Report. We’re a bit behind on getting the final version together, but the draft is available on the project website. The final version should be released later this month.
  • Pro Forma Analysis. In addition to the market study, Leland is also developing a pro forma analysis for Martin Way. Essentially, the analysis looks at how feasible different types of development are when factors such as land costs, parking requirements, and other public interventions come into play. The analysis should be complete sometime in September.
  • Mobility Study. Transpo was hired to look at how people travel to and through Martin Way, which will help us to better understand different transportation needs on the corridor. The study should be complete in the next few months.
  • MORE Outreach! Over the coming months, we’ll be convening small focus groups to discuss transportation issues and solutions on the corridor. We’ll be reaching out to some of you who have already indicated a desire to participate more closely in the planning process.

This update is going out to everyone who signed up for project notifications through our website, provided their email address through some other means related to this project, and those who participated in a focus group or other project meeting. We’ll be using this method to send out updates about project milestones and events. As always, we welcome your feedback! If you have questions or comments, please reach out to Katrina Van Every at vaneveryk@trpc.org.
