The Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan will hold the final Steering Committee meeting on Dec. 10th.

Thank you for your interest in the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan and for signing up for climate mitigation plan updates. We are excited to inform you about progress on developing a strategy for Thurston County, Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater to reduce local contributions to climate change.
On Thursday, December 10 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Thurston Regional Planning Council will host the 14th and final meeting to guide development and implementation of the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan. Because this is the final meeting, members of the public will have an opportunity to provide brief comment for Steering Committee members to consider before they begin discussions. Click here to access the Zoom link and meeting agenda.
After more than year of work, the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan Final Draft is ready for Steering Committee approval. Incorporated feedback from public comments and other updates can be viewed in the redlined Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan draft and the Summary of Changes to Draft Plan Memo. The Steering Committee will be discussing the Draft TCMP Resolution and Draft Climate Emergency Declaration that will accompany the climate mitigation plan when it is considered by each jurisdiction. Discussions will conclude with initial priorities and projected implementation timeframe.
This meeting is open to the public, but is accessible by remote-access only in cooperation with Governor Inslee’s Stay Home – Stay Healthy order. Members of the public are invited to view and listen to the meeting. Public comment is limited to the public comment section of the agenda. Members of the public may also send written comment via email in advance of the meeting to climate@trpc.org; emailed comments will be distributed to Steering Committee members one day prior to the meeting. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we try to find the best ways to enable public participation in this process under the current circumstances.
Instructions for remote access:
When you first access the Zoom website for the meeting you will be prompted to download a small executable file. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the Zoom application. There is no need to have a video camera to participate in the meeting. You also have the option to call by phone into the meeting. The meeting room will be open from 11:40 a.m. on, so feel free to join a little early to test out your settings and get used to the tools. Because Zoom is experiencing a large volume of users, we have found that it’s better if you are calling into the meeting to try calling in 5 - 10 minutes before the meeting start time. If you get a busy signal please keep trying, you will eventually get in. We also encourage people to use audio through their computer speakers if possible, and to wear a headset.
