Explanation

The National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) groups crimes into three categories:

  • Person crimes, such as assault and manslaughter
  • Property crimes, such as robbery and extortion
  • Society Crimes, such as drug and weapons violations

In Thurston County, property crimes make up the largest proportion of reported incidents (74%), followed by person crimes (24%).

Prison admissions in Thurston County decreased significantly in 2020 and 2021 after increasing the previous four years. Spikes in prison admissions occurred in 2004 (414), 2009 (426), and 2019 (445).
