Explanation

Poverty rates in Thurston County are higher for people of color (those identifying as Hispanic, Latino, or a race other than white) than white, non-Hispanic individuals. Over the 2017-2021 time period, the poverty rate was 12.3% for persons of color compared to 8.8% for the white, non-Hispanic population. The poverty rate was highest for people who identify as American Indian or Alaska Native and lowest for people who are white and non-Hispanic.
