ruralTRANSIT Service is Going Fare Free

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Beginning February 3, 2020, ruralTRANSIT (rT) will go fare-free. Our partner in Thurston County transit, Intercity Transit, led the way to zero-fare service in January 2020. Eliminating the fare saves money for riders, increases access, and helps keep the bus running on time!

rT connects the communities of Bucoda, Grand Mound, Rainier, Rochester, Tenino and the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation to the greater tri-city area of Tumwater, Olympia, and Lacey and to Centralia. rT also connects to Intercity Transit in Thurston County and Twin Transit in Lewis County for longer trips.

This service is available through state and local grant funding and in-kind contributions from cities, towns, businesses, chambers, and the continuing support of the Thurston Regional Planning Council.

For more information about trips and routes, call 1.253.472.7846 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Customer Service can help you plan your trip. Visit www.ThurstonRT.org to see the schedule and rules for the ride. The information on the website can be translated into other languages upon request.

For further information about the change to fare-free service, contact Karen Parkhurst, Planning & Policy Director, Thurston Regional Planning Council, (360) 956-7575.
