Thurston Regional Planning Council conducts a wide range of environmental planning. Products include watershed plans, data collection projects, GIS maps and development regulations for wetlands, streams and aquifer recharge areas. Hazards
Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan 2nd Edition The primary function of this plan is to explain the risks posed by natural hazards and to identify actions that can create more disaster resilient communities in Thurston County.
Land Cover
Land Cover Mapping Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) is generating a Digital Land Cover Data Layer for the entire land area of Thurston County based on 5 meter panchromatic satellite data merged with 25 meter multi-spectral (7 bands) satellite data.
Rate of Urbanization and Forest Harvest, 1985-2000 A study of land cover change, using detection satellite remote sensing. The study provides an important tool to understanding the health of our natural systems, including streams, wetlands, and marine shorelines.
Water
Guiding Growth - Healthy Watersheds: Translating science into local policy The Guiding Growth - Healthy Watersheds project will help direct new development into priority growth areas while preserving healthy watersheds for future generations.
Regional Water Education The 2010 Regional Water Education will include a series of presentations to the Regional Council during their regular monthly meetings.
Shoreline Master Program for the Thurston Region TRPC's most enduring water resources document.
Shoreline Master Program Update for Bucoda, Tenino, and Yelm The town of Bucoda, and the cities of Tenino, and Yelm are in the process of updating their local Shoreline Master Program (SMP).
Shoreline Master Program Updates for Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater The cities of Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater are in the midst of updating their policies and regulations for shorelines. The cities have completed Phase 1 and 2 of their update, and are in Phase 3 and 4.
