Data Table Housing Occupancy by Jurisdiction
Explanation In 1970, about 30% of the households in Thurston County lived in rental housing. That number grew to 33% of the households in 2010, with metropolitan jurisdictions having an even higher proportion of rentals. In 2010, Olympia had nearly a fifty-fifty split between owner-occupied and renter-occupied housing units, and Tumwater had only a slightly lower ratio (54% owner-occupied and 46% renter-occupied). Housing in Lacey was 43% renter-occupied.
